The Spider and the Web

the spider and the web

I do not like spiders.

When I have to go out to my shed, I wave something all over the place in front of me to make sure I’m not walking through a web (it’s happened before!).

When I looked up today, a spider was spinning – actually spinning! – a perfect web in the corner of the door frame. I watched with wary fascination for a minute, admiring its precision and beauty (the web, not the spider!).

Instead of destroying it, I ducked underneath and slipped into the shed.

P.S. To my utter horror, just as I was about to walk back into the house, this same creepy spider dropped down in front of me. It must have gotten caught on my hat on my way back out of the shed. I still have not recovered.
